Suspended Sun Platform
2025 / Keelung Ciao Art
Based on the solar path at 25°N latitude in Keelung Port, artist Hsieh Jung-Wei created Suspended Sun Platform, an installation that merges natural and artificial light. Through a three-tier reflective structure, the work transforms the sun’s movement from sunrise to sunset into shifting bands of color. During the day, sunlight passes through the platform, forming gradients of light that change with time. Viewers may walk or rest upon it, experiencing the gentle transition of color and shadow. At night, internal illumination recreates the warmth and hues of dusk, continuing the memory of daylight.
The work was inspired by the artist’s experience in Keelung, where a moment of chasing the sunset led him to rediscover the city known as the “Rain Capital.” Suspended Sun Platform stands as a light sculpture that glows without power, embodying the harmony between nature and human creation while offering a lasting sense of warmth to the city.
