“Sometimes, the ears matter more than the eyes.
You can fake a smile, but never the sound of your voice.
If you listen closely, you’ll hear the truth.”
— Happy Together, Wong Kar-Wai
Betel nut trees line the grasslands in rows, shaping the skyline atop Lixiping.
Using reflective light as a medium, the sounds of the Liyutan Reservoir’s ecosystem are translated visually onto each tree trunk.
Waves of sound rise and fall—birds, insects, the sudden rush of a passing car—
blending into a symphony that transforms the horizon into a flickering urban skyline made of trees.
